A four-year-old Camry Hybrid for QAR 45,000 in Qatar. The catch is 350,000 km, and most of them have been for sale for a year.
Thirteen 2022 Camry LE Hybrids are listed today with between 226,000 and 425,000 km, eleven of them at one dealer, at a median of QAR 45,000. A 2021 to 2023 Camry with a normal odometer asks QAR 73,500. With petrol held at QAR 1.95 for November, here is what the hybrid saves you and what it costs.

QatarEnergy left fuel prices alone for November: Premium 91 stays at QAR 1.95 a litre, Super 95 at QAR 2.10 and diesel at QAR 2.05. Nothing moved, so there is no new arithmetic on what a litre costs. There is a question it leaves standing, though, and our listings answer it in an unusual way: if you want a cheap, frugal sedan, the market is offering you a batch of nearly identical hybrids at a price that looks like a mistake.
Search BuMotar today for a 2022 Toyota Camry and you will find thirteen LE Hybrids with more than 200,000 km on them. Eleven are at one Doha dealer. All are asking between QAR 39,000 and QAR 45,000. One of the other two says in its description what the rest only imply: “it was Karwa”.
How we counted
Every figure from our site comes from live listings on BuMotar on 2 November 2026. Two of the cars are listed twice, with the same odometer reading and price, and we counted each once. Our fuel-type field is not reliable for these cars — most of the batch is tagged as petrol by the source — so we identified hybrids from the trim and the description.
The batch
- Thirteen cars — All 2022 Camry LE Hybrids. Odometers from 226,368 km to 425,000 km, with a median of 350,000 km.
- One price, roughly — Asking QAR 39,000 to QAR 45,000. Median QAR 45,000. The price barely moves with the odometer: the car at 290,000 km and the car at 385,000 km both ask QAR 45,000.
- One seller, mostly — Eleven of the thirteen are from a single dealer. Nine of those eleven first appeared on BuMotar in September or October 2025 and are still listed today.
We cannot prove they were all taxis. What we can say is that Mowasalat announced in May 2022 that it would replace every Karwa city taxi with a hybrid “Eco-Taxi”, and its operations manager said in October 2023 that 90% of the fleet had been switched. Neither report names the model. A batch of same-year, same-trim hybrids at three to four times normal mileage, sold through one dealer, is what a fleet retirement looks like — and one listing says so outright.
Assume the cars entered service in mid-2022. Then 350,000 km is roughly 80,000 km a year, four times the 20,000 km a year we assume for a private owner below. That figure is our inference from the odometer and the model year, not a record of when any car was registered.
The car at 290,000 km and the car at 385,000 km ask the same QAR 45,000. In this batch, the odometer is not in the price.
What the ordinary ones ask
Fourteen four-cylinder Camrys from 2021 to 2023, hybrid and petrol, are listed with under 120,000 km (after removing two duplicates and leaving out the V6s). Their median asking price is QAR 73,500 and their median odometer is 77,000 km. So the fleet cars are QAR 28,500 cheaper and carry about 273,000 km more.
Two 2022 petrol Camrys with taxi-like mileage are listed as well: one at 237,000 km for QAR 35,500, one at 310,000 km for QAR 45,000. At this distance the hybrid asks about the same as the petrol car, so you are not paying extra for the hybrid system.
One more detail. The two privately sold Camry Hybrids under 100,000 km — a 2022 at 88,000 km for QAR 48,000 and a 2021 at 97,500 km for QAR 56,500 — are the first and third cheapest cars in that group of fourteen. Two cars prove nothing. But it fits a market where a dozen cheap hybrids sitting unsold for a year set a ceiling on what a buyer expects to pay for the badge.
What the hybrid saves at QAR 1.95
The US Environmental Protection Agency rates the 2022 Camry LE Hybrid at 52 mpg combined, about 4.5 litres per 100 km. The petrol 2.5-litre LE is rated at 32 mpg, about 7.4 litres. These are laboratory figures from American test cycles. A Doha summer with the air conditioning running will be worse for both, and we do not know by how much.
- At 20,000 km a year — Our assumption for a private owner. The petrol car burns about 1,470 litres, QAR 2,867 at November's price. The hybrid burns about 905 litres, QAR 1,765. The hybrid saves about QAR 1,100 a year.
- At 80,000 km a year — Roughly what these cars appear to have done. The saving is about QAR 4,400 a year, which is why a taxi fleet buys hybrids.
QAR 1,100 a year is real money, but the sum is small next to the purchase price. It is a reason to prefer a hybrid when one is offered at the same price as the petrol car. It is not a reason to buy a car with 350,000 km on it.
Is QAR 45,000 cheap?
That depends on how far you think the car has left to go, and nobody can tell you from a listing. Suppose, purely for illustration, that a well-kept Camry is good for 500,000 km. Then the fleet car has 150,000 km left for QAR 45,000, about 30 dirhams a kilometre. The ordinary car at 77,000 km has about 423,000 km left for QAR 73,500, about 17 dirhams. On that assumption the cheap car costs nearly twice as much per kilometre of use.
Change the assumption and the answer changes with it. If you will only drive the car for two or three years and then scrap or export it, the remaining distance hardly matters, and a QAR 28,500 saving upfront is the whole story. If you want to keep it and sell it on, the next buyer will see 400,000 km or more and price it accordingly.
The specific risk with these cars is the hybrid battery and the inverter. Taxi duty is not necessarily hard on a hybrid — stop-start city driving is what the system is designed for — but at 350,000 km you should assume that any warranty on those parts is no longer in force. Price in a replacement before you agree a number, not after.
What to do with this
- If you are buying one of the fleet cars — Get a quote for a hybrid battery from the agent before you negotiate, and take it off the asking price in your head. Ask for the service record; a fleet usually keeps one, and if the dealer cannot produce it, that is your answer. These cars have been listed for a year at QAR 39,000 to 45,000 — the asking price is an opening position, not a fixed one. Ask about paint and panels too: one listing in the batch mentions a full respray.
- If you are buying any used Camry — Check the odometer first and the description second. A QAR 45,000 2022 Camry is not a bargain on a 2022 car; it is a fair price for a 350,000 km car that happens to be young. If the description is a single line with no history, assume fleet use until you are told otherwise.
- If you are selling a private low-mileage Camry Hybrid — Put the mileage and “one owner” or “private use” in the first line. You are listed next to a dozen QAR 45,000 cars with the same name, and the buyer needs to see at once why yours is different.
- If you are holding — Nothing in November's fuel prices changes the case for or against the car you already own. At 20,000 km a year the hybrid saves about QAR 1,100; that is not a reason to trade in a sound petrol car.
What we do not know, and what would change the answer. These are asking prices, not sale prices; a batch that has been listed for a year is probably selling, when it sells, below its asking price, which would make the fleet cars cheaper than they look — and the gap wider. We have not confirmed that any car except the one that says so was a Karwa taxi; ride-hailing or rental fleets would leave the same trail. The odometer is as the seller states it. The fuel figures are American laboratory ratings, not Doha driving. The 500,000 km life is an assumption for illustration, not a forecast. And the comparison group is fourteen cars across three model years, which is small; a handful of new listings could move its median by several thousand riyals.
