A ten-year-old Tundra asks about 50% more than an American pickup of the same age and mileage in Qatar. The Ram asks least.

There are 768 pickups for sale on BuMotar today and we have never written about them. We grouped 471 of them by age and mileage to see which ones hold their price. The Toyotas do; the American full-size trucks lose about 70% in ten years, and the Ram loses most.

Pickups are about one in eighteen of the cars for sale on BuMotar: 768 of 13,639 live listings on 4 November 2026, and 465 of those are with dealers. They are also a market that splits in two. On one side are the big American trucks — GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram and Ford F-150 — bought as family cars and desert cars as much as work vehicles. On the other is the Toyota Hilux, which is a work vehicle first. Between them sits the Toyota Tundra, a full-size truck with a Toyota badge.

The question a buyer has is the usual one: which of these will still be worth something when I sell it? Our listings can answer that better than any brochure.

How we counted

Every figure comes from live BuMotar listings on 4 November 2026, model years 2012 to 2026. We kept the ordinary trims and left out the special ones — Raptor, TRX, Ram's RHO, the heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 trucks, and the Denali, Platinum, Limited, Longhorn and Tungsten luxury trims — because a QAR 330,000 performance truck in the 2025 group would make every pickup look like it loses money faster than it does. That leaves 471 trucks. Prices are medians of asking prices, grouped into bands of model years.

The American four, by age

Taken together, the Sierra, Silverado, Ram and F-150 fall like this:

  • 2025 and 2026 — QAR 199,000 (31 trucks, median 17,000 km).
  • 2022 to 2024 — QAR 149,900 (87 trucks, 57,000 km).
  • 2019 to 2021 — QAR 108,500 (74 trucks, 112,000 km).
  • 2016 to 2018 — QAR 65,000 (64 trucks, 174,500 km) — 43% of the 2022 to 2024 price.
  • 2012 to 2015 — QAR 44,500 (101 trucks, 215,000 km) — 30% of it.

The steepest step is between the 2019 to 2021 trucks and the 2016 to 2018 ones: QAR 43,500, or 40%, for three years and about 60,000 km. After that the fall slows, as it does for most cars once the price is low enough that age matters less than condition.

Same age, same mileage

Mileage varies a lot between these trucks, so we also compared only those with 100,000 to 250,000 km on the clock. At eight to ten years old, model years 2016 to 2018:

  • Toyota Tundra — QAR 95,000 (7 trucks).
  • Ford F-150 — QAR 88,000 (9 trucks).
  • Chevrolet Silverado — QAR 66,500 (14 trucks).
  • GMC Sierra — QAR 65,000 (16 trucks).
  • Ram — QAR 52,000 (13 trucks).

And at eleven to fourteen years, model years 2012 to 2015, in the same mileage range: Tundra QAR 69,000 (7 trucks), F-150 QAR 49,800 (11), Sierra QAR 47,000 (29), Silverado QAR 44,750 (6), Ram QAR 38,000 (15). The four American trucks together ask QAR 63,000 at 2016 to 2018 and QAR 45,000 at 2012 to 2015.

At the same age and mileage, a 2012 to 2015 Tundra asks QAR 69,000. The American full-size trucks ask QAR 45,000.

That is a gap of about QAR 24,000, or 53%, at eleven to fourteen years, and QAR 32,000, or 51%, at eight to ten. The order below the Tundra is just as consistent: the F-150 next, the two General Motors trucks close together, and the Ram last in both groups.

The Ram's position is worth a caution. In the 2019 to 2021 group, at the same mileage, it asks QAR 89,000 against QAR 90,000 for the F-150 and QAR 87,500 for the Silverado — no penalty at all. The drop appears only in the older trucks. Those may simply be an older design that buyers value less, rather than evidence that today's Ram will age the same way. One snapshot of the market cannot separate the two.

The Hilux is a different kind of truck

The Hilux asks far less than the full-size trucks when young and holds a larger share of it. A 2022 to 2024 Hilux asks QAR 87,500 (30 trucks); a 2012 to 2015 one QAR 35,500 (9 trucks), 41% of the younger price, against 30% for the American four. In riyals, the American trucks ask QAR 62,400 more than a Hilux at 2022 to 2024 and QAR 9,000 more at 2012 to 2015.

The Hilux numbers come with a warning written on the odometer. A 2019 to 2021 Hilux for sale has a median of 178,000 km, against 112,000 km for an American truck of the same years. These are trucks that have worked. Only four 2019 to 2021 Hiluxes and three 2012 to 2015 ones fall in our 100,000 to 250,000 km band, too few to compare like for like, so treat the Hilux figures as the price of a hard-used truck rather than a direct match for the others.

The new Hilux figures are also mixed. The 34 listed 2025 and 2026 Hiluxes, with a median of 0 km, are mostly dealer stock, and the median runs from QAR 108,000 for a Standard to QAR 169,000 for a GR Sport. The QAR 137,000 median for the group says more about which trims are on the forecourt than about what a Hilux costs.

What to do with this

  • If you are buying a full-size truck to keep — The Tundra and the F-150 have asked the most at eight to fourteen years old on today's listings. Whether that holds for trucks bought now depends on whether buyers keep treating them the same way, which these figures cannot promise.
  • If you are buying used, eight years or older — The Ram is where the discount is: about QAR 13,000 less than a Sierra at 2016 to 2018 and QAR 9,000 less at 2012 to 2015, at the same mileage. The discount is a price, not a verdict on the truck. Have it inspected the same way you would any other.
  • If you are buying a Hilux — Look at the odometer before the year. A six-year-old Hilux at 180,000 km is the normal case here, not the exception, and the asking price already reflects that.
  • If you are selling — Price against trucks of the same make, age and mileage, and leave out the special trims when you compare. A Sierra seller looking at Tundra prices, or an ordinary Ram seller looking at a TRX, will ask too much and wait.
  • If you are holding — An American truck from 2019 to 2021 is in the steepest part of its curve on these figures, losing about 40% over the next three years of age. That is not a reason to sell, but it is a reason not to wait for the price to recover.

What we do not know, and what would change the answer. These are asking prices, not sale prices, and if Tundras or Rams sell further below their asking prices than the others, every gap above is off by that amount. Mileage and trim are as the seller wrote them; trucks listed without a trim are counted as ordinary trims, and some will be special ones. Several groups are small — seven Tundras in each matched group, five 2016 to 2018 Hiluxes in total — and a handful of new listings could move them by several thousand riyals. Comparing young trucks with old ones means comparing different generations, so this is a picture of today's market, not a record of how any one truck aged. And none of this includes fuel, parts or repairs, which is where a cheap old V8 truck can give back its discount.
